February 27th: West Desert Mine Exploration in conjunction with the Mojave Underground Team - Special mine tour into a very exclusive & privately owned mine, we've arranged a special tour guide to be there to show us through the mine and provide access. The Ophir Hill has over 20+ miles of tunnels, stopes, raises, shafts, inclines, underground lakes, amazing natural formations, historical structures and equipment- Limited to 20 total participants. Open to ages 18 or older and some special equipment will be required (hard hat and a minimum of two light sources, a headlamp and flashlight is ideal). We will be meeting at at the Ophir Hill Mine at 9am sharp, please be there early to check in and make sure you ready to go. The mine is located on the north side of the road in nearly the middle of the town of Ophir, it won't be hard miss, look for my red Tacoma. Carpooling is recommended and due to the special nature of this trip we decided that rather than do any 4-wheeling before or after the mine trip, we would just concentrate on enjoying the mine. We will be spending approximately 4-5 hours inside of the mine, please bring water and snacks accordingly. Please call or email if you have any other questions before the trip. Saturday we participate in the annual National Public Lands Day event, working at service projects throughout the canyon. For those wanting to see some more of the canyon we'll plan on camping again Saturday night have a breakfast on Sunday morning followed by a tour of some of the historical hotspots. We should be off the trail and headed towards home in the late afternoon. Participants are on their own for food (dinner, brekky and lunch) and camping supplies and we do ask that everybody bring a bit of firewood to keep us warm at night. Please be aware that we will likely spend a fair amount of time taking short walks to and around the sites. There is a Forest Service Fee station at the mouth of the canyon, $6 for a weekend pass. Check back for more details as we will continue to update them as we get closer. As with all customer runs, this is a family friendly event, please observe an obey all Forest Service rules. December 20th-21st: Winter Solstice "Freeze Your Tail Off 2" Overnighter - We will be joining members from ExpeditionUtah on a return trip to the Lucin Sun Tunnels to celebrate the Winter Solstice. We'll plan on leaving SLC Monday (12/20) evening (meeting at Delle, UT along I-80 at 6:30pm for those that want to caravan), camping at the Tunnels that evening and then waking up early in the morning to watch the sunrise through the tunnels. For those arriving later in the evening, we'll be easy to spot at our camp near the Tunnels. Following the Solstice celebrations we will travel back towards SLC in the dirt, with optional exit points for those that need to return home earlier. Potential stops include the Lucin ghost town, the Transcontinental Railroad system, the Hogup, Newfoundland and Lakeside Mountains, Spiral Jetty. Returning home that evening. Trail Difficulty: 2/10 though snow & mud can make some sections downright brutal. Keep checking back as details will continue to be updated. There is no group size limit for this event but please RSVP so we know who to expect.

What to expect in 2011: There are no shortages of opportunities to explore in this great state, in fact the hardest part of my planning is narrowing it down. I am still very excited about hosting a Spanish 'Treasure' Campout in the Uintas, I've got some acquaintances that are hobby and professional treasure hunters that I am trying to line up, I'm optimistic that with enough lead time we can get it on the calendar for 2011. Also, look for a bigger and better CruiserFest event at Miller Motorsports Park. The MMP team has asked me to have a more involved role with the planning of the 2011 event, if you have a suggestion or idea for next years event, lets hear it. I don't want to let to many secrets out but CruiserFest 2011 will likely be a 3 day event with area trail rides, more time to play in the off-road park and possibly some education opportunities too. Stay tuned for more info there. Beyond that I would love to hear from my customers what events you would like to see happen in 2011.
